Those who follow my art twitter will know that I can't stop myself from talking about media- it was literally what I got my degree in. I don't feel like people really talk about ARPGs that much as a whole so I'm gonna take it on. The intent of this journal is to give people things to think about- not necessarily condemn certain practices, even if I don't personally like them. I'll talk about ARPG practices I've seen, but won't name them so as to avoid putting species owners on the spot. I want to make clear that I am very much in the camp of let people run their games and species as they see fit (with the caveat that this doesn't apply to appropriative or abusive scenarios.) I'm just hoping to inspire thought and possibly spark a conversation. I think the first point of order is to hammer down a definition of ARPG. ARPG is not synonymous with closed species and they're not interchangeable. A closed species having a group with its community members does not an ARPG make. (I think
